No fuel surcharges, no stair or carry fees, no other per-item fees. Stairs, weight and a long carry move a job within its range; they are never a separate charge. The price we give you on site already includes everything above, and it is the price you pay.
What Bow Lake will not take, and what costs extra
Some items are banned from the regular garbage pit or need a separate area. Show up with these mixed in and you can get turned away or surcharged. Recycle or handle them separately:

Load it right: tarp and tie down
A load that is not tied down or covered pays an extra fee on top of the disposal fee. A tarp and a couple of straps save it.
Driving from Kent
Bow Lake is roughly 5–7 miles north of central Kent. Call it about a 10–15 minute drive in normal traffic (longer at rush hour or on a busy Saturday, when the inbound line backs up).
- Head north out of Kent on West Valley Highway (WA-181) or hop on WA-599 toward Tukwila.
- Follow signs toward Orillia Road S; the station is at 18800 Orillia Road S.
- Secure or cover your load before you go — an untied load adds a $25 fee at the scale.
- Weigh in, dump, weigh out. Weekends and mid-day are the busiest; overnight Mon–Thu is wide open.

Where is the closest dump to Kent?
Kent doesn’t have one. Most of Kent is closest to King County’s Bow Lake Recycling & Transfer Station at 18800 Orillia Road S in Tukwila, about a 10–15 minute drive north of central Kent via West Valley Highway. From the south end of Kent, South County at 35101 W Valley Hwy S in Algona can be closer.
How much does it cost to dump at Bow Lake?
King County’s self-haul minimum is $40.25 for up to 320 lbs, then $243.38 a ton. On Jan 1, 2027 those go to $43.50 and $264.01. If your load isn’t secured or covered, there’s an extra $25 fee. Rates change — confirm current pricing on the King County site before you go. If you’d rather skip the trip entirely, our junk removal starts at a $99 minimum and we do the loading and hauling.
Is Bow Lake really open 24 hours?
Yes, we are fully insured. Weekend hours are shorter — 8:30am to 5:30pm Saturday and Sunday — and it’s closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day.
Do I need to cover or tie down my load?
Yes. King County charges a $25 unsecured-load fee under King County Code 10.12.040. It applies on top of the disposal fee when your load is not tied down or covered on arrival. A tarp and a couple of straps save you the surcharge and keep debris off the highway.
What won’t Bow Lake take?
Cardboard, scrap metal, yard waste and clean wood must be sorted out for recycling. The garbage won’t take construction debris in dump trucks or dump trailers, major appliances, asbestos, computers and monitors, mercury fluorescent tubes, or hazardous waste. Those need recycling areas or separate facilities. We sort and route these for you when we haul, so you don’t have to make multiple stops.
Where do I take paint and chemicals near Kent?
Not to Bow Lake; it has no hazardous waste drop-off. King County’s nearest sites are South County in Algona (35101 W Valley Hwy S, closed Wednesdays) and Factoria in Bellevue (closed Mondays). Drop-off is free for King County households. We also take paint, at $10 a gallon.
Will my garbage company pick up a couch in Kent?
Republic Services, Kent’s hauler, picks up bulky items on call: $79.89 per item for sofas, chairs, mattresses and most appliances, and $119.80 for a fridge or freezer, added to your bill. We carry it out of the house for a $99 minimum, which covers one or two items.
Should I haul it myself or hire 99 Junk Removal?
