For most of Fife, the nearest self-haul facility is the Tacoma Recovery & Transfer Center, a short hop west on I-5. It takes garbage, yard waste, and recycling — but because Fife is its own city outside the City of Tacoma, you’ll pay the non-city rate here, not the resident rate.

Covers your first 400 lbs of garbage, then $8.50 per 100 lbs. Partial hundreds round up to the next 100-lb increment. This is the rate that applies to Fife residents.

The Flat-Rate Alternative
A little farther south in Puyallup, the LRI Hidden Valley Transfer Station charges one flat public rate — no city/non-city split — so from Fife it’s often the simpler comparison for a garbage-only run.
