“Knowing the cost of dump fee, time it takes to load/unload, travel time, etc it seems some companies are interested in ripping you off. Not this one... at least with my experience. It's always expensive to dump building material but this company offered a fair price that was in line with what I was expecting to pay with good communication. Will absolutely go to them if I need junk removal in the future.”

Getting there

Directions and what to expect

The station sits in a light industrial area off SE 32nd St in Factoria, northeast of the I-90 and I-405 interchange. Here’s how a self-haul trip goes:

Secure your load

Tie down and cover everything before you leave. King County charges a $25 fee for any load that arrives unsecured.

Sort before you unload

Cardboard, clean wood, scrap metal and yard waste go to marked bins inside the building. Yard waste and wood have their own area and their own rate.

Weigh in, then dump

You pay by weight, with a $40.25 minimum, and unload by hand. On weekdays the gates close at 4 pm, an hour earlier than Renton.

Do the math

What a DIY dump run costs

The station fee is only part of the bill. Add the truck you don’t own, the gas, the fee, a possible unsecured-load charge and a few hours of your weekend. Here’s the comparison:

✗ The DIY Factoria run

  • $40.25 King County minimum, more by weight
  • +$25 if your load isn’t tarped and secured
  • Sorting cardboard, wood, metal and yard waste into separate bins
  • Truck or trailer rental and gas, if you don’t own one
  • You load it, drive it and unload it by hand

✓ 99 Junk Removal

  • $99 minimum, approved before we lift anything
  • Labor, transport and disposal included
  • We do all the lifting, loading and sorting
  • Usable items donated, metal and e-waste recycled
  • Jobs Monday through Saturday across Bellevue and the Eastside

Where it goes

We don’t just dump it

Whatever you leave in Factoria’s garbage area is trucked 18 miles to the Cedar Hills Regional Landfill. We sort on the truck: reusable furniture and household goods go to charity partners, appliances and metal go to recyclers, and e-waste goes to certified electronics recyclers. Only what can’t be reused or recycled reaches the transfer station.

Questions

Factoria dump FAQ

How much does it cost to dump at the Factoria transfer station?
King County charges a $40.25 minimum per trip, for up to 320 lbs, then $243.38 per ton for garbage. Yard waste and clean wood cost $20.70 for the first 320 lbs and $129.38 per ton. On Jan 1, 2027 garbage rises to $43.50 and $264.01 a ton, and yard waste and wood to $22.50 and $140.50. Confirm current fees on the King County disposal-fees page. Prefer to skip it? We haul from a $99 minimum.
What are the Factoria transfer station hours?
Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 4:00 pm; Saturday and Sunday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. The hazardous waste building is open Tuesday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 9 am to 5 pm. It is closed on Mondays. The station closes on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
Can Seattle residents use the Factoria transfer station?
Not for garbage or recycling. You must live or do business in King County’s service area, which leaves out Seattle and Milton. Seattle residents use the city’s North and South stations instead (see our Seattle dump guide). The hazardous waste drop-off is different: it is free for King County households, Seattle included.
What won’t Factoria take in the garbage?
Corrugated cardboard, clean wood, scrap metal and yard waste have to be sorted out and recycled at the station. King County also refuses major appliances in the garbage (Factoria recycles them), C&D debris from dump trucks or dump trailers unless it is under 20% of the load, asbestos without Waste Clearance, computers, monitors and TVs, fluorescent bulbs and tubes, and hazardous waste. We take mixed loads and sort them for you.
Where do I take paint and chemicals near Bellevue?
To Factoria’s hazardous waste building, open Tuesday through Sunday and free for King County households. It takes oil-based paint, thinners, solvents, motor oil, batteries, propane tanks and household cleaners. Dried-out latex paint can go in the garbage. We also take paint, at $10 a gallon.
Do I have to cover my load?
Yes. King County adds a $25 fee for any load that arrives unsecured, per King County Code 10.12.040. Tie down and cover everything before you leave, or let us load and haul it.
Is it cheaper to haul it myself or hire 99 Junk Removal?
For one small item it can be close. Once you add a truck rental, gas, the $40.25 minimum, a possible $25 unsecured-load fee and your time loading and unloading, our $99-minimum haul usually comes out ahead, and we do all the lifting. Text a photo for a firm quote.
