Seattle Dump Guide

The city of Seattle has two options for dumps within the city limits. One is the North Transfer Station and the other is the South Transfer Station. They operate similarly, but it is worthwhile to find out which is nearest to you in order to make your Seattle junk pickup trip as easy as possible.

Let Us Handle Your Seattle Junk Removal for You

You can go the route of sorting through all this yourself, waiting in line and then paying the fees for disposal, or you can reach out to 99 Junk Removal for help. We will dispose of all your junk for you with no fuss. We will come to wherever your junk is, haul it away and ensure it is disposed of properly. Whether it’s clean recyclables or large pieces of furniture, we can handle it all.

Plus, wherever possible we donate items that are still in good condition. This allows us to give back to the community even while we help our customers declutter their lives.

What Can You Dump at Seattle City Dump?

The dumps can handle most items, but there are some considerations to keep in mind. Recyclables should get separated out for proper sorting. And the facilities can not handle hazardous materials, which need to be taken to a separate specialized facility. Things like computers, light bulbs with mercury in them (and other items with mercury in them) and appliances containing hazardous materials may also require special disposal techniques and handling.

Anything that does not fall into the categories laid out above is fair game and you are free to bring them to the dump site. If you have specific questions about your items or you are unsure if they are allowable at Algona Transfer Station, please contact the facility at (253) 722-4285.

Seattle Dump Hours

The hours for both the North and South transfer stations are the same:

Monday – Sunday: 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m

Closed: 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day

Because both these stations are located within the city limits, there can be long waits and lines at both stations. Try to plan your trip during odd times or at times when you can afford to wait if there is a bit of a line or backup. The city advises that the busiest times are Saturday to Monday morning, with Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings being the least crowded.

Neither facility handles hazardous waste. You should go to the North Household Hazardous Waste Facility or the South Household Hazardous Waste Facility if you have hazardous waste to dispose of.
